Early Life and CareerLou Costello, born Louis Francis Cristillo, was born in 1906 in Paterson, New Jersey, USA. His father was of Italian descent, while his mother had French and Irish roots. Lou attended school in Paterson but dropped out without completing his education to pursue a career in Hollywood. Initially, he worked as a carpenter at the MGM and Warner Bros. studios before becoming a stuntman due to his impressive physique. Later, he entered vaudeville with a comedic role, and it was during this time that he changed his surname to Costello, taking the stage name of his girlfriend.
